Disgusting that the manager is letting friendship blur objectivity.
Disgusting and pathetic that he felt the need to do that... or more accurately, was unable to repress the urge to do that.
FWIW, I'd have gone for the punch... except it sounds like you'd have left the bar in stainless bracelets under those circumstances.

I hope things turn out OK, and I definitely hope Todd understands what it means to take care of an employee first.

I work in fundraising, and I know sometimes we need to kiss the butts of the people with the power. (i.e., the money.) I wonder if this guy was an investor in the bar or something? It doesn't excuse his behavor or Todd's, but it might help explain it.
