One Grope Over the Line

It's Saturday evening in Manhattan, and I'm a couple of hours into an 8-to-close shift at the Bar; Jocelyn will be with me until close, and Sophie's off at 1. It's a good crowd, the mood is light, people are drinking less beer and more hard liquor, and so the tips have been pretty good. I'm trying to save up to buy a dress I saw last week, even ( Read more... )

agreed. fuck that shit. you don't have to work in an environment that is hostile like that. you were completely within your rights and boundaries lady. i think i would schedule a long hard talk with your manager though. that sort of thing is unacceptable.

Oh, crap. Man, sexual harassment is bad enough without your manager completely failing to back you up.

Not cool at all. I'm gonna come down there and slug both those guys in the nose. Pshh. That's disrespect and I feel for you. I hope you can get this sorted out without too many black eyes.

No. Fucking. Way.

Egads that's just disgusting. I'm so sorry. I've been reading your journal for some time now and I never would have thought that would be a response you got from your boss. Totally unacceptable!

I hope this gets resolved. But don't back down!

I'l second that... always thought your boss was a stand up guy. Iv a feeling that there is more to this story. not in the sense of whether the guy was out of order as he most definitely was but the reason for which your boss took the stand he did.

I guess you'll find out what's going on eventually!

Anyway chin up girl... don't let the man get you down (-:

*sigh*

Disgusting that the manager is letting friendship blur objectivity.

Disgusting and pathetic that he felt the need to do that... or more accurately, was unable to repress the urge to do that.

FWIW, I'd have gone for the punch... except it sounds like you'd have left the bar in stainless bracelets under those circumstances.

*shakes head*

I hope things turn out OK, and I definitely hope Todd understands what it means to take care of an employee first.

Wow, Debra, I'm so sorry that happened. I hope you've had a chance to talk to Todd since then and see why he handled the incident that way. It sounds like he handled it horribly - even if the guy was a friend of his, he could have walked him outside personally and asked him what happened rather than treating him like royalty and treating you like... well, you know what.

I work in fundraising, and I know sometimes we need to kiss the butts of the people with the power. (i.e., the money.) I wonder if this guy was an investor in the bar or something? It doesn't excuse his behavor or Todd's, but it might help explain it.
