Moving Through Some Changes

At the Bar on Monday afternoon, the owners Lanie and Victor have laid out a makeshift buffet lunch on the bar, and the entire staff is there, something I only see two or three times a year. We catch up with each other and share stories, while making pigs of ourselves on manicotti, steak pizzaiola, broccoli, and some other foods that end in vowels ( Read more... )

Aww congratulations. It really sucks when friends leave. At least you got a halfway fun party!

Having been the recipient of many, many free beers from bartender friends, including the one I plan to marry, I have to say that my sympathy goes out to your friends and regulars. :)

Hehe. I know some unscrupulous bartenders do that because it boosts their tips in a way that's hard to spot; there's a LOT of leeway in how much beer is expected to come out of a keg! But I also know (and it's clear from Debra's comments) that it's often bar policy to take good care of a regular by buying them a drink once in a while. It's smart. It keeps everyone happy. (I buy good bartenders a drink once in a while, too, in addition to tipping them. I take care of them, they take care of me.)

Well, congrats, senior maid...but you are in your twenties, yes? Please do not speak to us 30-somethings about feeling old. What I would give to be 20-something again.

Although I'm in the Military, I know that "Last Man Standing " feeling well. You look around, and suddenly you realise, that all the guys who were in the same section when you first arrived, have all been posted to other units or have left the Forces and all the young guys see you as the Old Man, or woman for that matter. I think it's only a matter of time before you get offered that Day manager position.

Is there anything special that comes with the position of Senior Barmaid, or is it just a glamour post?

It's not even a glamour post, at that - it just means I've been around the longest.

not that any of this matters to you, but i needed a place to put those worries.

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLJ,GGLJ:2006-34,GGLJ:en&q=pizzaiola

What is the internet?

What is google?

What is a livejournal account?

What is it when someone can take less time typing a reply and wasting an email when they could have just gone to any search engine and typed in pizzaiola?
