10. The Maytrees by Annie Dillard: Five stars. No, wait, six. The prose in this book is some of the most beautiful I've ever had the privilege to read. The story is set in Cape Cod, for the most part, and the description transports you there. The characters are not exactly like real people you'd meet, but they evoke so much that you really feel. I JUST GOT SO EXCITED WHEN I SAW YOUR ICON AT THE TOP OF MY FRIENDS' PAGE!!!!!

It's good to hear from you.

H's last night of the Nights Rotation was Tuesday. It's good to have her back and Avery likes having her mom around as more than a breast. :)

We have still not ruled out the possibility of a trip up there to see you two, but are just juggling options and time lines. It looks now like we're going to be doing something in May (H doesn't want to do anything after she's done w/ residency and just before she's starting her practice) if we do anything at all, otherwise we wait until H has been up and running for a while.

We did find some good cruises that are less than $900/person, but then you have to deal with flight stuff, too.

Okay, back to work for me. It's good to hear from you on LJ!!!!

Was Galileo's daughter supportive of him? Interesting that she was a nun... did'nt know that before.

He had TWO daughters (by a woman he never married), both of whom entered a convent a few years before his fame (and eventual condemnation) really took off. The one who wrote him letters was supportive in every imaginable sense. She even took as her "nun name" Sister Maria Celeste in honor of his fascination with astronomy.
