What are you afraid of?

Prompted by a post else where, I have a real fear of putting my hands where I can't see them. Posh bathrooms with the handdryers in the wall are horrid. Can't do those kid's experiments where you put your hand in a box to feel and guess what it is.

I think someone's going to grab my hand I won't be able to get away.

Do you have an unusual fear or

I have that one as well, can't put my hands in things I can see into, rather than someone grabbing my hand, I think something is going to happen to it, like something horrible will crawl on it, or it'll be on fire or something like that. I also have a bit of a phobia about things in my face, in fact once long ago when Rick and I were being silly he pretended to bite my face and I completely freaked out about it and was really scared.

Oh yes, the fear of something evil in the box is equally prevalent.

The face one is understandable, things launching into your face suddenly is probably a fight or flight trigger anyway. But still, fairly irrational when it's your husband - unless he makes you want to run away anyway... ;o)

I think it was because he surprised me more than anything. I have a massive fear of big dogs, and that apparently comes from being chased by a large dog when I was younger, although I don't especially remember it (I was told much later on after I'd already displayed the fears), so maybe that has something to do with it.

Just good old vertigo as far as I know.

BOR-RING!

Actually, heights I'm OK with. As long as I am something strong and steady with a barrier. Skyscrapers are generally OK but climbing a ladder sets me right off.

I don't know how these freeclimbers do it.

Brrr.

I have one that amuses me :) I have a fear of loudly flushing toilets. They just make me jump out of my skin.

Oooh, you've reminded me of one.

I hate those toilets with the "wave at me" flushes. I always think they're going to go off when I'm in the middle of something, thusly scaring me literally poo-less.

I can't stand nylon, the fake silk kind. It makes me gag.

Wow.

That's a pretty unusual one.

Paper cuts. Totally ludicrous but if I have to pick up a wad of papers or use a copier the idea that I will get a paper cut actually makes me feel physically sick and I go shaky. I usually make myself ignore it as it's so embarassing, but it's still there...

That is unusual. Although actually, completely understandable.
