This episode was more about Emma than Peter, so he didn't do much else besides save a few people, encourage her, and get some foreshadowing headaches.
I liked that this ep was more about her than him, but I was confused about the headaches. What, are tumors new forms of the Virus now, or something? I don't remember hearing Jeremy talk about that side effect, but eh, maybe it's because he was draining life instead of giving it.
If an episode is good, it's the kind of thing that just makes me go "LOL TV-LAND" and move on.
Word. I did find the whole scene with the doctor saying "Oh, you're here, handle this patient" kind of off, and the little girl dying in a private space seemed too convenient to me, but like you, I can wave this stuff away if the rest of the episode is good, and it was!
it's incredibly entertaining to watch Greg and Zach play off each other as Sylar and Matt endevour to see who can screw who over the most.Again, it's this kind of stuff that makes me overlook what I would otherwise think is distracting and lame;

Jeremy also wasn't using his power non-stop on every broken spine, flesh wound, and stubbed toe in a major New York hospital. ;) I'd guess Peter's just pushing himself to the brink by using the power so much.
Grunny and Zach have had awesome snarky chemistry together since the beginning of the volume, so I've stopped minding so much about the clarification that Sylar really is in Matt's head.
I know! Even with head!Sylar being real, it's still turned out to be pretty cool and well-done (other than the squicky overtones last week). Grunny and Zach are awesome together, and it was cool to see Matt get the chance to step up and pwn Sylar like that.
I think that it was realistic of her to want to leave, and it was surprising to see that she actually did go instead of being convinced to stay by Claire.Oh, it was definitely realistic of her to want to leave after seeing the ugly side of Claire's life

if Emma does end up jumping back into med school, something tells me she won't have months-to-years of admissions or waiting period before she's back to stitching people up
At the end of the episode, we see Emma take out a white coat that has Dr. Emma *can't remember her last name* on it. I'm not all sure about the white coat ceremony at most med schools, but I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to put that designation on your coat unless you are a doctor. So maybe she doesn't actually have to go back and she was just telling Peter she dropped out because she didn't want to have to help ?? (that was an awkward sentence... )
CUT YOUR HAIR, ZACH. FOR SRS. Thank you!! :D
I'm liking the Sylar and Matt scenes too. It really is a big pissing contest but it's subtle. :P
And the Haitian has a name now! I got that too. Rene... very nice!
Which I can only assume is tied in with Mohinder apparently coming down with a slight case of DEADIs he actually dead? He was in the promo for next week. Or do you think that's part of a flashback kind

Also possible! But it's probably easier to assume that someone in the prop department didn't do their research. ;)

The pissing contest was alternately amusing and intense. I was also really happy that Matt got to step up like that and completely pwn Sylar at his own game. I mean, it's not like he's DEAD (the promo for next week already showed that), but still. He heroed up big time. Being willing to let yourself die like that, with everyone thinking you're suddenly a murderous psycho, just to take Sylar down for good? That's a sacrifice right there.
Is he actually dead? He was in the promo for next week. Or do you think that's part of a flashback kind of thing? I think it was implied that he was dead, at least. Lying on the floor with a bunch of (bullet?) holes in your chest will do that. But we'll

I *loved* Matt and Mind!Sylar. Glad to see something good in that storyline, instead of last week's squicktastic escapades.
Nathan!Sylar is heading into confusing-but-possibly-interesting territory.
Gretchen leaving was a disappointment (I was just starting to warm up to her!), but I thought it was realistic. I mean, who *really* wants their life to be that full of danger if they can avoid it? (Other than Hiro and Micah, but let's face it, they couldn't be seeing things through rosier glasses.)

Yes! I love that Matt stepped up like that, and was willing to make as many sacrifices as necessary to stop Sylar. It really had to suck for him: not only would he die, he'd die with everyone thinking he'd snapped and become some kind of psycho murderer, and no one would know he took Sylar down with him. (You know, if he actually HAD died. Either way, that counts as heroic.)

LOL, Hiro and Micah are happy playing hero. Everyone else either hates their life or wants out. I don't blame Gretchen for bailing once she saw that Claire's life wasn't all "Ohh, shiny cool superpowers!", but it's too that she wasn't as strong as she thought she was. Claire could use a friend.
