That's a very similar impression to the one I had of the one episode I saw of Fringe; I liked a lot of it, but only loved the father and son. They were hilarious. And they watched Spongebob with a cow!!!

That scene made me LOL. A lot. THOSE are the moments I like about Fringe. Most of the SUPAR SEKRIT CONSPIRACY DRAMAZ and pseudo-science have been done better by other shows, but the father/son stuff and the random moments of wacky normality are great.
