(X-post) Turn, turn, turn...

This first month of the new year is indeed time for changes. I feel myself growing and stretching, but I am not sure in what directions I am headed. I think I know where I will live in one months time. I do not know what I will be doing for money, but would prefer not to have to use unemployment ( Read more... )

Growing dear. You don't have to change yourself totally; you are just discovering more possibilites about yourself.

And hugs.

Mostly everyone's tales of woe regarding getting it started and it suddenly stopping.

*laughs* ignore them. Having used unemployment, I can tell you exactly how it works: You file for it (you can do this online). You get a letter with a scheduled phone call. You answer the phone. You answer their questions. They say thank you, and hang up. Then you start receiving money a week after it's through ( ... )

IAWTC. Yes, it is a pain if it suddenly stops, but A)You can usually re-start it and B)It is better to have it then not than to not have it. It is hundreds or thousands of dollars that ARE YOURS BY RIGHT.

I am currently a month behind (some weeks, I don't work full-time so I still get some of the unemployment), because I filled something out incorrectly, but I will be getting four (small) checks in the next couple days.

Also, having to put something down on the reverse side of "Did you look for work? If "Yes," please fill out reverse side" is a good motivator for looking.

The best of luck to you.

And as a very wise woman once told me, unemployment is not like welfare. Unemployment is insurance, and you've paid into it. Use it if you need it.

And yes, free-falling or floating, it all works better when you let go of some of the fear. Easier said than done and all that...

Sorry to hear that the job is ending. Way too much of that going around.

Also, ditto on the various words of wisdom re: unemployment above. As a musician, C has used it many a time in the past, and it usually was not too onerous.

Totally unrelated...I have a thingy for you. It's a made thingy. No, I don't have a better name for it than 'thingy' at the moment. I was intending to check if you'd be at Feb. Pryankster party/meeting. (OK, I was intending to get free and roll over to the S&B last weekend to see if I spotted you in the flurry of activity there...but that fell into the 'didn't happen' file. The new intention is plan b.)
