Maybe I've just read the wrong Jim Butcher books because...I honestly was not impressed with his work.

Which ones have you read?

Storm Front was ok. Fool Moon improved upon it. Even Jim himself says that Grave Peril is where the whole series really starts to gel.

He has another series, but I've never read it. Apparently that one was started out a challenge to mix something with Pokemon and make a series out of it.
