I'm pretty sure this is what the season has been going for...my quibble is how they have been telling the story. I don't feel I understood Sam's decision not to look for Dean until several astute meta writers contorted themselves to explain it in a way that makes sense.

And I have to say, last night's episode, 'Larp and the Real Girl' was like water in the dessert...I miss the boys who could find some enjoyment in life...
