Like you, I think Dean was not truly corporeal in purgatory. I think you believe you ate, but its illusion.

Jim Michaels said in his podcast that it is not necessary to eat in Purgatory.

I hope they will flesh out Dean's PTSD better than they did Sam's broken wall...and I hope the mystery surrounding Sam leaving in the middle of the night and being watched gives more explanation of why Sam didn't look for Dean. I'm trying very hard to believe in the meta explanations of Sam hitting the wall and just stopping...but I can't completely accept it yet.

And now, I can finally listen to podcasts and read other people's views - well, up to the limits on my time, anyway ... *wry grin*

Keep faith: I think we will get satisfying answers. I'm optimistic!

Well they can hardly do it worse! At least Dean's PTSD looks like it will last more than 2 episodes and it will take more than a few hand squeezes to cure it. I DO hope they handle it well. I would also like some good Sam insight, but I'm not holding my breath.

I have a theory that Purgatory, unlike Heaven or Hell, is at least partly corporeal. I love your very logical argumentation, but mine is a bit more intuitive. My first bit of evidence is the black oozy stuff that makes up the Leviathan. So, it reminds me of the ectoplasm that really bad poltergeists have left? It's some kind of, say, corporealization of bad energy??? Whereas Angels are pure soul energy ("Grace" is a vile phrase).... and demons, when they smoke out, seem to have drawn just enough of that corporeality to be visible as smoke and to leave traces of sulphur ( ... )

I hope they do flesh out why Sam was leaving in the middle of the night as the first episode left me with so many questions regarding Sam compared to Dean, who actions seemed to be very much linked to his obvious PTSD.

As for the figure watching as Sam left, I know you think it maybe Dean, but actually I would like whoever it is to have something to do with simply Amelia and has nothing to do with hunting. I know that kind of sounds sick, shadowy figure watching woman on her own, but they keep saying that she is as much of a misfit as Sam, which I kind of got as she simply let him walk off. So if that is true I would be interested in seeing how Sam copes with dealing with a relationship that falls apart and it does so because of factors that really have nothing to do with hunting/demons seeing how those have played a role in driving every other meaningful relationship we have ever seen him have.
