Reading your thoughts always matters, as you often provide a clear focus for the random thoughts that swirl in my mind after an episode. And on a personal note, I found this episode more emotionally impacting than Frontierland which everyone is raving about this week...I am looking forward to your review of that, whenever you get it posted. I want to see the episode through your eyes.

I'm getting very nervous about the last four episodes. The parallel between Castiel's choice of doing bad things for a good end is too close to Sam and the demon blood disaster. I fear another major betrayal for the boys...

Your episode analysis always enrich the experience for me and some time separating the 2 does not diminish the impact and in fact lets me see the episode with fresh eyes. I think back to when Dean lamented that Cas could not lie to save his life and therefore Sam deliberately took advantage of that fact to discover what Dean and Bobby neglected to inform him of his time back from hell. I think this was exactly the reason the boys did not catch Castiel in the lie this time. They don't expect that the angel can lie and therefore are not looking for the tells. In SPN nothing seems to be wasted and one scene often has multiple functions spanning several episodes and even seasons. I really loved how Jensen and Jared played the alternate Winchesters the same yet subtly different. Their ease and experience as hunters and partners spoke of a long partnership but lacking the distrust and hesitancy of the boys as we know them now, maybe the painful events of "our" time line also matured the boys since the AU brothers felt less substantial ( ... )

I always love to read your thoughts, no matter when I get to read them. I love especially your thoughts about the mythology, because that's one thing I never look into at length myself, so it's always a fresh perspective for me. :)

I don’t believe Castiel ever lied to Dean before he agreed here that Balthazar had unsunk the Titanic on a whim. He’s said things that turned out not to be true, but he believed them at the time based on what he’d been told.
Hm, that's one point where I actually disagree. Castiel did lie to Dean several times IMO. In Death Takes A Holiday Castiel deliberately pretended to be Bobby to get Dean to take the reaper case, thus helping him with Alistair's capture. I think that counts as a pretty direct lie. I also believe that Castiel is lying to Dean when he tries to get Dean to swear his allegiance to the angels in When The Levee Breaks. I am sure he knows at that point that Sam killing Lilith will actually start the apocalypse and not prevent it, yet he omits that little fact to Dean. He can barely look Dean ( ... )

I can only imagine the time it takes for you to write these. I know how long it takes to write my off-the-cuff reviews and yours are always so insightful and researched. I feel like I should take notes as I read! No wonder there is lag time between the episode and your meta.

But I wouldn't worry that it doesn't matter to anyone. People obviously (as evidenced by comments above and ones I'm sure you'll be getting) look to you for some grounding and insight into our Show. After all the effort you put into this, I would hate to have you think it doesn't matter. It does.

I don’t think it’s an accident that Fate said the exact same thing to Castiel that Dean heard from Death in Appointment In Samarra: It’s about the souls.

Back then, Death said he wasn’t retrieving Sam’s soul for Dean.

I wonder whom he was doing it for.I have been wondering that very thing and practically itching for the explanation. I hope it is an explanation we're given and not something that's woven into a season-end cliffie (I'm spoiler-free, but I'm betting they ( ... )

Add me to the list of people for whom your wonderful commentary matters a great deal!
I'm afraid I'm tend toward being a bit shallow while watching the show - the pretty that is Dean just acts like a drug on my brain apparently and I know that takes a lot of my focus away from plot holes and complex subtleties in the storyline that I should be picking up on. Lucky for me, you don't post screen caps along with your meta! I can have all the intricacies distilled and enhanced for me by your superior brain! So thank you.
Wait, you're a singer too? Some people just have it all!
