Thanks for writing this review. I wonder how many times you watch an episode to come up with the synopsis ( ... )

Heh: I usually watch the episode three times before writing. The first time, I'm simply absorbed in the experience, living the story. The second time through, I have the chance to pay attention to production details, and think about performance points, direction, production design elements, locations, and the like - the things that turn up in the production notes. The third time, I'm writing the episode summary itself. I spend a lot of offline time thinking about the themes I want to address in the analytical meta part ( ... )

Re: The aborted hug

I read a suggestion elsewhere and found it made a lot of sense to me that Sam didn't hug Cas because he knew he was going to have to lie to Cas about Bobby telling him the truth. Sam, being Sam, undoubtedly already disliked needing to lie to Cas the first time he saw him after coming back, but to hug him first would just make the lie even worse. Cas just *doesn't* do stuff like that generally, so to accept a hug and then lie to his face would have been really low.

"but whenever he was hopped up on demon blood, his inhibitions were crushed and the dissenting voice of his conscience became nothing more than a chirping cricket. Every time we saw him experiencing the power rush high of demon blood, he was obviously feeling no emotional or spiritual pain on account of what he was doing at the time he was doing it."

Thank you--this helps me understand why Sam didn't just leave after fighting Dean in that hotel but why he strangled him a little bit.

Your reviews are always worth the wait. I agreed with all of your comments about this episode. Thanks for the interesting history about the sword featured in the episode. Both of the rock songs used in this episode I was unfamiliar with so thanks for covering that as well. I look forward to reading more of your upcoming reviews.

I'm totally with you on the whole "being underwhelmed by the dragons" thing. I was hoping for Smaug...and we didn't even get Puff! :-(

Okay: is it bad of me that I immediately started singing "Puff, the Magic Dragon"?

*snerk*

Thanks for that laugh!

The dragons didn't bother me. I figured they had a bunch of virgins because the Mother either a) eats them or b) burns through them and will need a replacement virginmeatsuit sooner as opposed to later.

As always, enjoyed your review!

Good thought! I hope we eventually learn you're right, in one guess or the other!

Thank you very much!

Just had this thought: what if Mother's just the first to be raised from Purgatory, and they need multiple virgins on hand for Mother's handmaidens or whatever?

Azazel (Alphas) builds an army, Lilith (Dragons)supplies it and raise Lucifer (Mother), who aims to destroy the world with defective puppy-eyed woe-is-me sob stories. Or something.

Wow. Don't I sound cynical. ;)
