(Or presumably, since Zachariah referred in Lucifer Rising to having administered other planetary enemas, to involve the use of the dominant physical lifeform on whatever planet was at issue.)

I haven't finished reading the review, but I have suddenly realized the world desperately needs Michael and Lucifer having an apocalyptic battle while wearing dinosaurs. ♥

What an image! (I was seeing a Star Trek: Voyager script of mine, with iridescent 12-foot crabs from a heavy-G planet that communicated in color shifts and pheromones ... *grin*)

I thought I had the whole angel mythology figured out until I read your analysis. Now I also do not have a clue. I like your speculations on what is causing Sam to be so emotionally disconnected. I can't wait to see whether you are right or if something else is causing it. Thanks for another thoughtful review.

Thank you! Sorry to introduce intellectual ambiguity on the angelic front, but glad you enjoyed my musings on Sam. I'm with you in wanting to see what's really going on!

This got me thinking and speculating like crazy (and that's pretty much been what I've been doing sinc ethe premiere, gosh this season is hard to pin down. I think though, you are right, now all the story and its elements have been laid out.

Here are some of my thoughts in response to yours:

I’m talking about Azazel’s arrangements to gain access to the children being bred to produce a suitable vessel for Lucifer. Without gaining the currency of a soul, I wonder how Azazel would have delivered on the wishes he granted, including restoring John to life In The Beginning in exchange not for Mary’s soul - he was explicit about her keeping her soul - but just for permission to enter her home one time in the future. He didn’t get Sam’s soul, we know because he went to Heaven in DSOTM, but did he get his body? Remembering that Lucifer said, they were two halves to a whole made for each other. And we know specifically that it is the body that holds Sam’s power. But does that mean his body is somehow bound to Lucifer, no matter what ( ... )

Many, many questions ... only time will tell us the answers, I fear.

The biggest difference between the current strife and Lucifer's original war boils down to the presence and direct intervention of God, I think; He was there to give the orders to imprison Lucifer in the first place for his disrespect of God's commands and His human creation. Uriel wasn't imprisoned for his later rebellion, which didn't occur until after God was nowhere to be found as an answer to Uriel's questions and discontent. I don't think any other angel ever shared Lucifer's prison; I do wonder what punishment awaited the angels who joined in his rebellion back in the original day.

I can't wait to learn the truth about Sam's situation. And I'm also dying of curiosity about what brought Samuel back, and why. So far, we have only supposition that the same entity was responsible for both ... I wonder.

re: "I’m getting the sense the writers conceive of Heaven almost as another physical dimension partially overlapping with our own."

i have read a few books by the psychic sylvia brown, and this is the way she explains it. i believe she goes as far as to say that this dimension is about 3 feet above ours. i thought you might be interested....

(going back to finish reading the rest of the post now!) =)
