I really agree with your thought-out assessment of how the boys got to rock-bottom in their relationship, and how Sam's decision to 'put his money where his mouth is' turned the tide.
I just rewatched it tonight, and I think it is just about perfect.
And on the rewatch, I had an out-of-nowhere thought: what if Gabriel plucked Adam out of the room?
I loved your clever finale; " there’s a miracle right there."
This was excellent to read, thank you. How do you remember all the detail of past episodes? Phew! The exploration of character development was riveting, and worthy of a re-read which I'll get to in a min.
Your observations about direction and editing were particularly interesting, and I'm going to have another look at those sequences right now. The continuity of the blood on Sam's mouth, (it looked like lipstick at first) and it's colour put me off. Is it usually such a bright red? Oops, me nitpicking. Must go check it out! ;)
For me, there were so many story thread payoffs throughout the episode, it was like, ding, ding, ding, ding.... A thing of beauty. This was storytelling at its finest, with everyone on top form. Made me write and I couldn't stop! I have a whole new appreciation for you and others who do reviews every freaking week, especially your concision - even given how delightfully long and meaty your reviews always are

Oh boy, I have been looking forward to your review of this episode since the credits rolled, and girl, you did not disapoint. I have devoured your words with gusto while at work, and will savour them slowly again when I get home.
I would have loved to meet Kurt Fuller at a con, but sadly I think the Chicon last year will be the only opportunity to get to an SPN con. He will be missed, I did so like to hate old Zach.... he seemed like a guy who loved his job *g*.
"While it might have been part of the trap orchestrated by Michael - deliberately alerting Castiel to allow Sam and Dean to renew the feeling of having a bond with Adam by letting them interact with him - I don’t believe that was the case. When Zachariah met Adam in his dream, Zachariah said, You weren’t where you were supposed to be, kid.....Letting Adam physically connect with the Winchesters opened up the possibility for Sam and Dean to have been able to persuade Adam not to trust Zachariah"
Thank you! I've tried to convince a few other people of this very thing.
My personal bet is God is more active than He indicated through the message Joshua passed on, that He or others among His loyal servants are still providing subtle help......What I flatly don’t believe is that Dean is an angel, or that his conditional “yes” to Michael let anything of Michael in. The whole point of this show has been and is that the Winchesters are human
Again, couldn't agree more.
Speaking of words and Winchesters, I really hope we (someday soon

We must remember that God said ( or is said to have said) that there will be no intervention in the APOC. - not that there will be no intervention at all. I personally think lots of strings are being pulled. Just not were or in the direction that Dean is looking.

A very intriguing thought; unlikely but definitely intriguing.

Lol, I just said the exact same thing (with the same expression) in my own comment!

I was immediately like, "Obi-wan? What's wrong?"
