I too highly enjoyed this episode and while I can understand that people wanted more 'Winchester' in the last couple of episodes it couldn't be helped. As I understand it 'Ghostfacers' was mostly written before the strike and it was either film it or leave it away completely and I prefer to have it filmed. LOL

Me too! Do you suppose they would have had time to write a whole 'nother episode if they HAD decided to dump Ghostfacers, or do you think we would have ended up with 3 instead of 4 to dinish the season?

I am pretty sure we would've ended up with only 3 instead of 4 episodes, because Kripke said in an interview shortly before the strike ended that they will probably manage to write 2-3 more episodes before the summer pause. :)

Even though this was supposed to be a funny episode, which it was, there were still plenty of little nuggets about Sam and Dean. Can't wait for your review of LDC!!!

I'm glad you had fun with your family!

The week home was a mix of joy and stress. I had a lot of fun with my Mom, but there just wasn't any time or opportunity for me to recharge on my own. I'm still recovering from that bit! But I'm getting there ... and we definitely made good memories.

I'm worried that Dean's deal is also going to suffer due to the shortened season.

I'm sure we lost a lot on Dean's deal as well, but there was no way around it. Even though most of the lost episodes would have been of the stand-alone MOTW variety, we know that the thread of Dean's deal would have been woven through them all in little tiny moments that we would have treasured - seeing Sam hiding what he was doing, hearing throwaway comments about ideas that didn't pan out, seeing the steadily increasing stress in both of them about the days ticking off with nothing to show for them, feeling the ultimate dissatisfaction even with successfully concluding a hunt because it wasn't the hunt that mattered. Every MOTW episode always made reference to the overarching story, always - and I miss all of those moments and desperately wish we had them.
Guess it will be up to us to detail them in fanfic, since the wriers' strike denied them to us on screen.
Sigh.

I was thinking the same thing. Only nothing could top Doyle's speech (not to mention the "rats"). Agreed, though, he turned in a wonderful performance, though I wonder if he wasn't cast in part due to his resemblance to Reaper's lead.
I wondered too about the choice of American Band for Sam and Dean's introduction, since it speaks to their transitory, in and out, state that leaves a mess behind.

I love the music choices on this show; they nail them consistently. But I'm still waiting for a bit of Molly Hatchet ... *grin*

I'm quaking in my boots about what Kripke's going to do to us with this season's finale ...

Tell me about it. :) Somehow he still looked incredible.
Oh and you missed one my favorite scenes, where Ed's adopted sister walks off and Dean notices and goes after her and tells her not to wander away. I liked it because it showed that even in the annoyance and chaos, Dean was still very much focused on trying to keep them safe.

Thanks for adding it back in, when I left it out!
