Supernatural Report from Comic-Con

Well, folks, my sojourn at Comic-Con 2007 is over. First off, I must say, regretfully, that I have no personal close encounters of the Supernatural kind to report. And given that there were many people there with cell phones and tiny digital cameras with video capability recording the panel, you’ve probably ( Read more... )

Delightful accounting of the events, plenty of details, too--thanks very much! I sure wish Jared had made it, but shit happens. Sounds like a grand time, albeit crowded. I can't wait for season 3. I LOVE SUPERNATURAL! Robin

Tee-hee - I think Jared missing the show may have been worth it just to give Jensen a break from being the one constantly ragged on by Jared for having missed flights! The very smug "boy, can I hand it back to him now" look on Jensen's face was worth the price of admission.

Still, I hope I'll get to see the two of them together off camera someday. They definitely seem to be more fun than a barrel of monkeys, and there are questions I'd love to watch both of them field...

Thanks for the recap of the Comic-Con panel of supernatural. I would of love to be there but reading about your experience is just as good. I was wondering what your favorite episode was and which session did you like best?

A loyal fan!

I'm kind of like Eric, without the excuse of actually having a parental interest: I love too many of the episodes to pick a single favorite. The list of my favorites would definitely include, in no particular order, "Faith," "Devil's Trap," "In My Time of Dying," "All Hell Breaks Loose, Part 2," "What Is and What Should Never Be," "Nightshifter," "Dead in the Water," "Something Wicked," "Heart," "Nightmare," "Shadow," "Cross Road Blues" -- oh, heck, I'd better stop before I wind up just listing them all!

Both seasons were great and I love them for somewhat different reasons, but I'd have to go with season two as the winner so far, because they really pulled out all the stops on production and Jared seriously stepped up his game. He was wonderful in season one, don't think I'm dissing on him at all, but wherever his mind was at during the hiatus between seasons, he came back with a sharpened focus that just made him fit fully into Sam's skin the way that Jensen seemed always to totally inhabit Dean. I was seriously impressed!

I had a blast at Comic-Con, and I'm glad you're all enjoying reading about it and stopping by to chat - including my pals from TVGuide.com!

I keep remembering details I forgot to write, such as the girl who said she had noticed that Sam didn't get to drive the Impala at all this season, and asked why. Jensen - whose natural speaking voice is a little lighter and higher than the one he uses for Dean - immediately dropped his voice into Dean's register and growled, "Because it's my car!" That brought down the house, as you can well imagine, and after the laughter had abated a bit, Eric chimed in that he agreed, and that every time he saw "Sam drives the car" written in a script, he always asked why Sam would be doing that, and why Dean would let him. Someone else on the panel - I forget who - threw in "Dean was shot in the leg!" as a suggestion, and Jensen cocked his head to one side and then sort of reluctantly conceded, just with his shrug and facial expression, no words, that yeah, that would probably be enough to do it ( ... )
