I've been thinking about the holographic universe theory/model/analogy, and considering some of the implications for social constructionism and epistemology in general. I think there's a good chance my mind is going to collapse in on itself, or I may slip into the two dimensional plane. If I do, its been good knowing you. Maybe someday I'll ( Read more... )

nope, there's never a good time for conceptions of reality and the physcial universe to be shattered. thats some of the material in politics of cyberspace blows my mind as well. political economy is a lot less taxing.

haha. "taxing", so to speak.

slip into the two dimensional plane?

that's something I dont understand about this whole thing. If the world is a hologram through which we interpret the world, do other beings actually exist or are they products of my consciousness?

The other thing i was thinking is whether our current view of science is a product of liberal thought. Or maybe it reinforces liberal thought. Scientists see everything as the sum of individual atoms and subatomic particles. This, in a sense, may work to naturalize the idea that society should be viewed from the stand point of the individual and the role that individuals have in the creation of its sum.

This holographic theory would suggest that tearing things up into individual pieces is useless. It is the whole which is important. hmm.

Last, why the hell am I reading this when I have 55 pages of crap to write in the next week and a half? thanks!

p.s. does shannon bell have anything to do with this?

i think if we take shrooms we will realize that the universe is just a hologram that stelarc and shannon bell created.

do you mean that it is the spawn of the offspring which was conceived while they made love in a zero gravity chamber?

yeah, i think its really interesting that there seems to be a correlation between the way scientists view physical reality and the "atomised" individual of liberalism. i've thought of that connection before. there are a lot of parallels.

hmm, what do you think: "quantum physics-as-resistance"? tear down the newtonian-liberal order!

and nope, dr. bell can't take any credit for this one.

So my belief in telepathy isn't crazy after all!

But then, does this mean that everthing is pre-destined?

And if LSD can be used to see this hologram, why the hell aren't we all on LSD? Oh that's a crazy idea.

this means that the universe is one then. such a socialist conception. greg, i think you should start an OPIRG 'quantam-resistance' working group on this. And do LSD.

no way, Jose! lafille_lolli March 25 2004, 17:23:03 UTC

yes, the LSD is a must. We should do some practical experimentation to see if this theory is correct.
