Arashi, how I do love thee? Let me count the ways…
The cool dance moves, the singing, the way your conversations make me laugh… The reasons are many, but the one reason which we have in common is their “good relationship”. What’s the secret behind their good relationship? By breaking Arashi down into pairs and hearing from the members themselves, we’ll get a glimpse into why watching them makes us feel happy.
Sakurai Sho’s Pair Analysis
Matsumoto & Aiba - The pair whose ages are reversed
Even though Aiba is technically older than [Jun] by a year, but somehow, I have this image of Aiba-kun being smacked around by Matsujun. (laughs)
Aiba & Ninomiya - The telepathic pair
The two have been together ever since the Junior days, how shall I put it… It’s like the two of them are harmonized, both mentally and physically.
Ohno & Matsumoto - The Allied Pair
The two of them often sing together in concerts, so somehow, I have this impression where they often adhere to each other while singing.
Ohno & Aiba - The therapeutic pair
Well, somehow the two of them are just a calming presence. Don’t they exude a soothing vibe?
Matsumoto & Ninomiya - The level-headed pair
Even though they’re the youngest in the group, I do think that they’re the most level-headed among the five of us. Rather than being mischievous, it feels like they’re level-headed.
Ohno & Nino - The pair of comedians
There’s this image of them being together a lot of the time. The two of them often play around by putting up mini comedic acts. Even when the camera is not rolling, they do their acts in the green room. (laughs)

Aiba Masaki’s Pair Analysis
Sho & Ohno - The Seniors x 2 pair
Sho-kun and Riida… They’re the senior combination in Arashi, yeah?
Ohno & Nino - The pair of jokers/flirts
In any case the two of them play around a lot. (laughs)
*The Japanese term, jareru, can mean both jesting and flirting.
Ninomiya & Sakurai - The egghead pair
The two of them often get excited over talk on computers.
Ohno & Matsumoto - The Pair whose distance shrunk
When Arashi was first formed, Matsujun used honorifics when speaking to Riida.
*Honorifics: The suffix attached to one’s name when addressing a person, such as “-san”.
Sakurai & Matsumoto - The soba-loving pair
They often eat soba… When we order take-outs their rate of ordering soba is rather high. (laughs)
Matsumoto & Ninomiya - The pair with similar taste
I have this feeling that they often read similar manga.

Ninomiya Kazunari’s Pair Analysis
Ohno & Aiba - The pair that resembles each other
I think the two of them spend their time in similar ways. For some reason or another. I do think that they resemble each other.
Ohno & Matsumoto - The Classic Siblings Pair
The two of them have the greatest age gap between them… The younger one is really level headed while the older one is typically gentle.
Matsumoto & Aiba - The Sympathetic pair
The two of them are often together since the Junior days, so they probably understand each other well.
Sakurai & Ohno - The Understanding pair
The two of them know each other best, yes? Simply put, they’ve been together for a long time. That’s why I think that they probably know a lot about each other.
Sakurai & Aiba - The Ultra Friendly pair
I wonder why. They’re really the best of friends. They see each other in clothing shops and go shopping for clothes together. Don’t their hobbies and leisure activities coincide?
Sakurai & Matsumoto - The level headed pair
The two of them are really level headed. There’s that image of them. It’s true in concerts, and they take the lead during difficult situations. I have this feeling that they do this rather often.

Nino & Aiba - The teasing versus teased pair
Nino teases Aiba-chan. That hasn’t changed since way back when.
Nino & Matsumoto - The Adult Pair
The two of them have a refreshing feel. You don’t really see them displaying skinship even in the green room. That’s what makes them feel like “adults”. (laughs)
Matsumoto & Aiba - The Pharmacy pair
Aiba-chan often receives medicine for things like pollinosis* from Matsujun. Because Matsujun pretty much carries anything. (laughs)
Sakurai & Nino - The High Tension pair
They’re often hyped up over something. What is it, I wonder… Is it the words, or the mood of that particular situation? The two of them would just start fooling around during concerts, so I often get that feeling from them.
Sakurai & Aiba - The Funny Bone pair
When two of them are together, I have this image of Sho-kun bursting into laughing at Aiba-chan, be it his actions or words. They seem to enjoy themselves a lot.
Sakurai & Matsumoto - The adult pair
Somehow… They just feel like “adults”. (laughs) There’s this steady feel to the both of them.

Matsumoto Jun’s Pair Analysis
Nino & Aiba - The Classmates pair
The two of them have been together since forever. The nature of their relationship hasn’t changed. Their parents get along well with each other too. It’s like they’re buddies from the same class.
Nino & Ohno - The Super Buddies Pair
The two of them probably hang out together the most, not surprisingly. In any case it’s like they’re best buds. They often hold hands too… How long do they plan to keep on doing that? (laughs) I don’t know either. (laughs)
Ohno & Aiba - The pair with joined hearts
The two of them do things like going drinking together, and when they’re drinking in the hotel they become moved to the point of tears. I don’t know what got them so emotional, but it seems like something like that has happened. (laughs)
Sakurai & Ohno - The pair of direct opposites
Hmmm… The two of them could be direct opposites, I think. One of them is a feeling person while the other is a rational person. Riida is good at drawing, but Sho-kun is bad at it. (laughs)
Sakurai & Aiba - The Golf-loving pair
I have this feeling that the two of them talk about golf from time to time. It’s not as if I often see them doing it but… Well, I just have that image!
Sakurai & Nino - The Yamada Taro pair
It’s the image of Yamada Taro Monogatari. I have a strong impression of the drama at that time. In addition, this includes myself as well, when we tour we carry laptops with us. Each of us has our own laptop.
