this hotel's mascot is the duck, so you take their ducks on "parades" around the hotel twice a day and take care of them and do presentations at schools. it is SO RIDICULOUS SOUNDING.
I think it's interesting to look at what people will and won't watch within a genre. Because like, I got stuck on Stargate and haven't been compelled to pick it up again, but I can't tell you WHY. It's not that I don't like tv shows with aliens, because I watch Doctor Who. And it's not that I don't like tv shows that are science and discovery oriented, because I would just watch the Discovery channel forever if I could. And it's not that I don't like the ACTORS or the CHARACTERS, because I do. I like Jack quite a bit.
So really, it's all kind of mystifying. Um, if you're me. I'm easily mystified, though.
(I just had a similar sort of conversation over on thesovereignty actually, about why people write the genres they do.)
i have the same problems! i mean, i am obviously completely in love with doctor who, but the rest doesn't work for me for no real reason. and i mean, it's not even that i'm not ENJOYING the shows. just somewhere around the 30 minute mark i think "yes, we are about to wrap this up and be done" and then it turns out there are 15 more minutes.
i was actually stuck on "liars, guns, and money" for a while because i kept feeling like i was missing some gigantic part of the plot. i'm up to "self-inflicted wounds" now (or maybe i just finished them both? i don't think i finished the second one) but i took a break because i wanted to watch tv without any distractions. i don't know why, but i have a lot of trouble giving farscape my undivided attention, even when it means i spend a lot of time saying "wait, what? when did he find out about that?"
