I always find it a little odd to read about what things _should_ cost, because there's nothing deontic about market pricing. Things cost what people are willing to pay for them. If what people are willing to pay falls below the cost of production, those things stop being sold (or rather, if _most_ people stop being willing to pay, those things become objects of conspicuous consumption rather than commodities, as with owning horses or leather-bound books
