I am older than most of the young women who get metaphorically kicked in the teeth by the "fake geek girl" appellation. I'm sure age is a factor in that bullshit. It's like...
geek guys should like geek girls who share their interests. Y'know? That's how you find people with whom you're compatible. I met my wife playing on a World of Darkness MUSH online back in 1995 or so, and I've been thankful ever since. Because how the hell else was I going to meet a girl with the right sort of interests...at a frat party? Hah, yeah.

This is why I am absolutely flabbergasted by this hostility towards girls who demonstrate an interest in comics and books and games and stuff.

Maybe these guys are still buying into the idea that they're supposed to be fucking the prom queen--and by "prom queen" I mean "1980s teen movie prom queen stereotype"--and haven't yet figured out that everything is a lot more fun with someone who shares one's interests.

I could understand it for the younger guys. They may still be in the dumb larva phase. It's the 30+-year-olds who puzzle me. Have these guys just completely given up and decided that they will never have sex?
