Went out to spray the poison ivy again on Saturday, but the sprayer broke. I shall have to bring it back to Home Depot and ask them what they can do about it. A single use for $30 is not acceptable ( Read more... )

A nice hot towel sometimes helps, too. Or one of those microwavable heat thingies from the drugstore.

And here I thought I'd read something with human, rather than plant, gore on it by the end. >:-)

Allow me to suggest a rain barrel for under that downspout as a project for the coming year, especially as you're working your way toward larger gardens. There are even kits for these now!

I definitely want to do rainbarrels at some point. I have at least three downspouts where that might be a useful thing.

For now, though, I'll go with the $10 plastic or tin thing and save toward the $100+ rain barrel. Looks to be a rainy year this year, so I don't expect to be spending on water for the lawn.

Also, re gore: I was acutely aware that even a dull axe can damage a person, so I'm rather proud that even in my maddened, exhausted state, some part of my brain was consistently saying, "Point the edge away from you" over and over.
