What I Bought

To answer oracne's query from a couple of posts ago: I bought the new color omnibus of Girl Genius; and then based on recommendations, I decided to give Amanda Downum a try with The Drowning City. While I was in a buying mood, I also ordered the most recent Kim Harrison paperback.

Yep, I too was totally hooked by The Hunger Games, against all my expectations.

I did quite like the Downum books, though I had a personal issue with her unattributed use of some else's song lyrics in the third book.

The Hunger Games is indeed addictive.

For some reason I had it in my head that Downum's Necromancer Chronicles comprised a trilogy, so had been planning to read them, well, now. And then I heard that there are more coming so I'm holding off.

Well, the part they quoted is technically correct. It's the speculation that gets silly.

Hundreds? Out of, what, 900 votes? I HAVE ALL THE POWER MUAH HA HA HA HA HA!!!!

I'm sure I didn't vote for Ray more than a couple dozen times. ;-)

There are three books out in the series already, but IMO each one stands alone very well (I read #2, then #1, then #3, and had no trouble).

I just finished HUNGER GAMES at lunch today, and blogged briefly about it in the latest Book Post on my LJ. Despite my initial disinterest, it's a really addictive book, and I'm now itching for my son to finish reading CATCHING FIRE so I can read that one.
