Real is the Spanish word for Royal, which might help the explanation.

Oh yes, I know - I almost mentioned Real Madrid in the post, but decided I didn't want to talk about football :) But the thing I'm confused about is why the city is Réal and the mountain is Royal. It just seems weird for them to be named in different languages.
