perpetual daylight for the win :)

It's nearly 3 on Sunday morning, and it's still light outside :) Normal daylight persisted until 11pm, and since then we've been in twilight. There was a glorious pink and purple sunset as we drove through the volcanic region outside Reykjavik, but in the city itself it seems like around 8pm in the summer at home. So people treat the perpetual daylight kind of like a Mardi Gras of some kind, an excuse to party endlessly?

That part sounds annoying, but the light and the tour and the blue lagoon sound heavenly.

Mmm, I think the Runtur (pub crawl) happens every single Saturday night regardless of what the Sun is doing. To be fair, most of the obnoxiously drunk people have been tourists, and the only reason it's a problem is because our hotel is right in the city centre. We're actually NEXT TO the Tourist Information Centre, and you couldn't get much more central if you tried! Being a person of limited mobility and frequent late-night hunger, I'm willing to put up with the noise in exchange for the convenience. I can see how some, though (including people in my party) would find it rather annoying.

I would make the same decision. However, I am fortunate that I have the ability to ignore any kind of noise when I'm trying to sleep.
