Argh. Sometimes I go to Ikea and have a really great time & buy all kinds of cool things I didn't previously know I needed. Other times I go and it's close to the living embodiment of Hell. Guess what it was like today

How annoying! I was despairing of ever finding the BENNO CD tower in beech, but I finally got it last weekend and it works great - adjustable shelves to fit DVDs, CDs, odd-shaped books, and tucks in between my matching beech BILLY and the electric heater. But I'm going to be some pissed off if they stop making the BILLY line in that colour after I've started investing in them.
Hmm, I wonder if there's much IKEA stuff on craigslist or ebay?
Also, I don't know if it would make it more or less frustrating to know that they have the black-brown one that size in Canada, according to the website.
Well, we're going to Canada at the end of June (details to be arranged, yes, still). But I don't think the airline would be impressed if we tried to bring a bookcase back with us ;)
It looks like you could do it free, if you were travelling Air Canada and only had one other bag - it would be just under the total of the linear dimensions for one piece of luggage. On the other hand, if you already had two bags you'd pay $175 CDN to add a third, which would be a bit excessive.
*lol* - I was thinking more about the weight - 48kg, iirc. Which is more than half my body mass.
Also, I expect the baggage handlers would throw it around far too much, so it would end up with the corners all battered. It'd be much easier to buy the bookcase from continental Europe and drive it back, if any of the Ikeas there still do it in that colour.
