A very quick, rough sketch with very little detail. Usually used to render objects and individuals in motion; the standard technique (at least, the one all my drawing professors taught me to use while doing this) is to put the pencil to the pad and draw the subject without looking down at the paper or lifting the pencil. Usually, gestural sketches are used as roughs for larger drafts, but I sometimes do it just for fun and practice.

I recently bought Nicolaides' The Natural Way to Draw. I think this is what my life has been missing. Long live the gesture sketches! I should follow your example and go people-watch instead of pausing my DVDs.

It's hard to find healthcare professionals that actually care. They just kind of rush you in, look at you, name off something that's probably a wrong diagnosis, give you some meds, and send you out. It pisses me off. I have a skin disordered that hasn't been diagnosed correctly yet. I need to find a dermatologist. =/
