Last post before journal deletion [Public]

I will be deleting the entire barakta Livejournal in a few days. I can't condone the latest Terms of Service and I'm not willing to guarantee I'll mark LGBT friendly content as adult or friends only. Russian law and practice towards LGBT people is horrifying

I think you're right on the value of 'paid accounts' and value for money.

Most of my LJ friends are also jumping ship. Has that not been the case for you?

Are you on DW? I seem to recall you had a different username and I am losing track of who I am following.

I have a permanent account here too and I don't see anything new in the new T&Cs. The requirement to mark journals as mature has been around since LJ was owned by Six Apart in California. Kay had no problem marking his journal mature a decade ago. I've never bothered, but then I never make public posts.

Of course I don't agree with Russian LGBT+ laws but saying that the legally binding version is in Russian just makes it unenforceable in UK courts - they can't argue I've agreed to T&Cs that I definitely can't read. Obviously LGBT+ youth need access to information but my LJ is not that. Nobody under 19 will ever read it because nobody I don't know will ever read it.
