Hello! Poking my head in to give you the 411 on how the scarab would react to Lola before I post her greeting to Jaime. =) I have no clue about this fandom at all, so thanks for posting this... It helps!

Okay, so Lola is an angel. She is not one of the more powerful ones by a long shot, but there's definitely power there that the scarab might notice. I'd say she's about a six point five, maybe seven on a good day, on the power scale. It's all good energy, though. She's practically sparkling with it. And she's going to be perfectly civil, cheerful and smiley to Jaime, so there's really no reason for the scarab to freak out about it... Lola is able to read minds, but the angel muns generally tone that down at HH anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Anything else, just comment back and we'll chat! =D

Yeah, to say Jaime's powers need a bit of explanation is like saying Homsar's slightly off. I was going to put this in OOC comments, then realized it was ridiculously long. Glad it helps.

I don't think the scarab's going to really freak out at Lola any more than average. Jaime's going to be a little tongue-tied, but that's going to be primarily due to the "hey, a cute girl is being nice to me without ulterior motive" phenomenon. :)

The whole tongue-tied thing is, of course, completely okay with Lola. XD It's been a while since she flirted. *watches Lola with keen interest*

You have Lola-mun to blame for Maia's attempted 'make the world a worse place by depressing one person at a time' takeover.

Maia's pretty much a 7 all the time, and she does like to abuse her powers--if she doesn't like you she may pluck memories out of your head and turn into a loved one, or fling scorpions at you. All this is done with OOC permission, of course, so the mindreading won't come into play. When confronted with people who can make her regretful slash emo, however, she's pretty much reduced a snarling cat who won't do a thing but try and insult you. So anything from a 2 to a 7, there.

The scarab picking up Maia's general 'death or worse to all' vibe would...well, either of the first two options would work.

Quickie OOC question while I've got 5 minutes between lunch and meetings: Is it okay if Maia's persuasion works on Jaime but NOT the scarab? (This is important, because Jaime's not sure how the scarab picked up on it and the scarab has to tell him how... and it may be going, "hell no.")

Also, um, the last person who tried to use persuasion like that on Jaime? Got her arm broken. It may not react wholesale like it did to Bonita, but it may try to zap Maia.

First off, total manic SQUEEEEEE over having a Jaime! I've only read the 2 trade paperbacks because they've always sold out of the new issues by the time I can get to the comics shop, but - SQUEEEE! I adore every. Single. Character. in that book. Even Pinata ( ... )

Yeah, I figure Carrie's not going to ping him any worse than the Posse.

Also, I point you to the scans_daily post that made me app him: http://community.livejournal.com/scans_daily/3704991.html

I've caved and actually ordered BB #16 from my comic book shop JUST BECAUSE OF THAT SCENE.

Tagging back to Crais right now, so I'll take that into consideration - I really don't think the scarab's initially gonna give Jaime the lowdown besides "not human" unless he actually interrogates it. Which, at first meeting, he may not be likely to do; Maia's comment has him trying really hard not to talk to the scarab.

Ohh yeah. If Jaime ever eats any magic chocolates, you have just got to turn him into Dentist!Jaime. If for no other reason than that he's hott in a sweatervest and lab coat. :-)

I want that Eclipso arc so bad, wish they'd hurry up with that next trade!

For amusement, I'm totally going to throw Peter Petrelli into this app :D

And even though you've RPed with him before, I'll give you the lowdown on exactly what he can do, anyway XD. Even though he absolutely sucks at using most of them, he has a veritable warehouse of powers. Ranging from telepathy to telekinesis, flight to healing, persuasion, radioactivity, etc. (All up he actually 27 different abilities, though he's not aware of 9 of them XD) I'm not sure whether this will merit a spaz because they're there, even if he fails at using them, I'm not sure!

Up to you, obviously ;)

OH GOD YES, PETER!

I figure if he's not overloading on powers, Pete isn't going to trigger the armor, buuut the scarab will definitely WTF at him. If he's passively mind-reading, he'll probably pick up on Jaime's thoughts (since, IMO, Jaime himself has no psychic abilities) and some unintelligible panicky muttering that he won't be able to understand. Said muttering will be the scarab - which, incidentally, sounds like Jaime's mom.

I'd say Pete would be a 7-8 - a 9 if he's actually using powers. No attacking here, but some definite "okay, the alien rock in my head is screaming 'danger, danger' and that's never good."

Oh, and given the source of Jaime's powers, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Peter's probably not going to have to worry about absorbing them, accidentally or otherwise. Which is a good thing for him, Jaime wouldn't wish the scarab on anybody. :)

Hey -

Since Jaime got Sorted and I think the dinner party + the YED is keeping Peter busy, can we just assume that Jaime knows Peter absorbs abilities and Peter knows Jaime can tell things about people but has no off switch?

I don't think the scarab would've come up. Peter might or might not realize that he hasn't absorbed Jaime's "ability" since it's not innate in the slightest.

Just in case they ever interact again. Does that work?

I forgot to say that both Lain's can tell when something is amiss and so would know something is up with Jaime himself.
Both would know their being assessed and studied but neither will make much of a fuss.

OH MAN I totally forgot about the Lain's. While Jaime would prefer that the scarab ignores their stats, I have no problem with it freaking out. The power level for either one is just going to set it off. I seriously doubt it's going to attack, but Jaime has officially lost all hope of getting through his Sorting without the armor coming out at least once. If you don't mind, that is. XD

As for the origins - the "alien construction" one will freak Jaime out 'cause that'll remind him WAY TOO MUCH of the aliens who created the scarab in his head. (Which I will now explain at length since Lain will be able to scan him ( ... )

I give an ok for any reaction you deem in character.

Ok, the Alien origin is mentioned off hand but most of the details are given over the last few episodes.

I picked W-Lain in the end because she's rather blunt whilst Lain is still playing the part of 'sweet school-girl' W-Lain will just start asking about anything that interests her without any regard for her own privacy. (Not that I've always been completely consistent with either. ^_^b)

In a scan of her it'll find she isn't human. It may see she's an alien construct but the aliens are never developed in detail and are simply shown as the all too familiar 'grey' alien. If DC has any equivalent feel free to make comparisons.

Lain Iwakura will also turn up, if you don't mind both of them.
