My throat is raw after inducing vomiting to clear my head. Got a few rude, childish comments encouraging me to commit suicide, all of which I smiled at. It's funny to see people so intent on being "shocking" that I cannot take their piggish, mean-spirited remarks to heart. it is true that you have to find your place and your happiness on your own, because no one can do it for you, but you can have company while you do it. you have to do the work, but you don't have to be alone in it.

in your place I might try making a list of positive things I could do, things that aren't beyond your current capabilities--and I don't mean to say you are incompetent, rather that you are in an agitated and anxiety-ridden state and might have to break down grandiose wishes into things you can do in such a state--and pick one. whichever one feels most enjoyable, most rewarding, even easiest.

give yourself a break, in other words: do something you want to do, and do it for yourself with as much compassion as you can muster--you are able to do that for others to quite an extent, you know. try it on yourself, a little at a time.

just that you are able to find compassion for others even where many people would have a hard time finding it: for your father, for instance. although lately you've been feeling very angry with him, you still always manage to have some sympathy for him as an adult looking at another fallible person. that's remarkable, really. most people would not be able to do that ( ... )
