Back in the 1970's Ralph Nader was behind (or so my child's understanding was anyway) the drive to put catalytic converters in cars and eliminate leaded gasoline from the environment. Mom's Plymoth Valient (a horrid mustard-gold color, so 70's) had one. And it never started well, especially in cold weather. We'd get in the car and the car would stall, and stall, and stall again. And Mom would cry, "Damn Ralph Nader!"
So see? She knew thirty years ago he was evil. Mom's obviously psychic.
Or possibly a minor power whose curses actually turned Nader even more to the dark side.
