They don't celebrate birthdays as a team. It's not a rule, it's just not anything they've ever done. They do celebrate Christmas (informally), and Halloween (more formally, but only because it's a generally informal holiday). Parker has shown more enthusiasm for Halloween than Nate had ever wanted, dressing up in more flamboyant costumes every year

Comprehension dawns, and she smiles a smile that makes him feel like he's a child that just said something amusing. “Oh. No, that's Sophie's birthday, not mine.”

I like the idea that he's never going to know everything about the real woman behind Sophie. I wonder if she even does, at this point.

Nate's smile actually hurts his face a little, but he feels like he earned it.

One piece of the puzzle... he really earned that one!

He worked hard for that one, that's for sure. I really enjoy that they're peeling back Sophie in layers. With the others, who they are is kind of up front (well... Eliot is sorta. You know he's seem some awful things, mostly by the way he doesn't talk about it), but Sophie has a level of mystery that the others don't, and I don't think Nate knows her as well as he thought he did.

I think she likes to rub his nose in that a little, too. ;)
