All he could think of was how sweet. About how incredibly sweet Gabe was. He was in the doorway of Alex’s apartment with a carnation in hand.
“Ryland said they were your favorite, or he told me that the white ones with pink on top were - but they only had white and purple. Purple is a good color right?” A tentative smile crossed Gabe’s mouth.
“Yeah, yeah… purple is good…” Alex reached out and took the flower; he did love carnations. The soft smell, the texture, the way they didn’t really look like a flower..
“So anyways… I came over to, well to see if… well if you wanted to play bass, for.. for my band I am starting…”
“Aren’t you a bassist?”
“Well.. yeah, but… I want to dance; and to sing. Just dance and sing, you know?” With that Gabe did a little shoulder shimmy while trying to play sexy.
“That’s all and well, but Ryland usually plays bass…” Alex was a little embarrassed about how awkward the situation was becoming.
“I know but he said he wants to mix it up a little, play guitar. Plus he says you are a total bass expert.”
“You sure know how to sucker someone; coming over full of praise and pretty flowers…”
“So you’re in then?”
“Yeah, you got me. I’ll be the bass-fiddle player for you…”
“Yes! Alright!” Gabe threw his hands up in triumph. “We are gonna rock people’s socks right the fuck off!”
“Totally.” Alex looked over Gabe’s bemused expression and felt that somehow he was right, they were gonna rock.
