My Mum said I weened myself after 6 months because I was just too nosy about what was going on around me that I lost interest lol.

Fuck the usa and their fickleness! Grr.

Wow, can't believe you're gonna have a baby in a week!

hehe, i know it's crazy! and if lena wants only 6 months of it, that is all her and i will be fine with it. i prefer her to make the decision, much like you did...even if it comes early. ;)

I never did make colostrum early. LOL and I think if you want to latch Lena yourself...go for it.

I have a daycare client who nursed her child for 3 years. And Greg's cousin nursed her youngest (and probably the older 2 also) for over 2 years.

I didn't. I don't have the milk production. I had to supplement bottles for both Ari and Camie. But I love nursing. I'm glad I could do what I could for them. ^^ I also got pretty sore from the nursing. I guess I'm a wuss? ;P

Every woman's different and I say do what you want! ^^

Just wanted to say that I think it's awesome that you are so dedicated and excited about breastfeeding. It IS an absolutely wonderful life changing thing. I've been nursing my son for 20 months today and have no plan to wean him. I also wanted to say that my experience in the hospital was great. Everyone was very supportive and gentle. I am in Florida, so I have no idea what it will be like where you are, but it's not always bad. I also haven't experienced to much negativity about nursing past a year. I really wish you the best of luck in your journey and can't wait to read all about it. Also, there is a wonderful breastfeeding community on LJ if you are interested. Full of wisdom and information!
