I don't know how it goes in Russian fiction conventions, but since the days of film noir, redheads have been 'bad girls' so if a guy likes red heads, it sort of implies an interest in girls who are feisty, sexy and provocative if you're going for the positive interpretation, and loose-moralled, dangerous and manipulative if you're going for the negative interpretation.
Does Jim ever explicitly say he likes redheads, or is it just a theme that came out of Attraction and the dangerous Ms McCarthy, and of course Jim's marriage to Carolyn, who looks reddish in some lights? Because Lila's not a redhead, Veronica's not a redhead, Alex isn't a redhead. Any women I've forgotten? *g*
