And everything I wanted to realize kiki_miserychic April 5 2009, 21:48:40 UTC
Ohhh, yay, a vid on youtube, which is the only video streaming site I can use now. :)

I know next to nothing about Avatar except that I had to decorate a cake at work with the symbols from it.

2D vids are so cool to me because I think it takes something different than a live action vid. I love the beat at 2:16 too.

The pacing is great with the slowness of the beginning and the beat use at :53. Awesome use of the movements.

An Avatar cake? Man I'm jealous. Thank you for watching and commenting even though you don't know the fandom! 2D does take something different from live action but they're both fun. :)

Such a vivid, beautiful video. The timing of the guitars with the beats of the Zuko battling is perfect. The way you explore his growing self-awareness versus Azula's developing insanity...PERFECT! I can't think of another word for it!

Oh wow, thank you so much for the very flattering feedback! You really hit the nail on the head re: Zuko and Azula, so that was especially great to read.

Oh I didn't know you were watching Avatar! I don't think the vid spoils anything that isn't fairly predictable, but it's still nice to see things as they happen. Hope you like seasons two and three! And thanks for the general feedback. ;)

Aww thanks nc! It means a lot that you watched despite the inevitable spoilage. I love that ending fight scene too so it's great that you picked it out. And yay for capturing Zuko's angst! There's definitely plenty to work with. ;)

Thanks again!

Is this the song you were struggling with? Cause it sure doesn't look like it! I really love what you did with the pace of it - it definitely does look organic, and not just the final fight - and how you used source effects and more dramatic motion on the guitars, while recognizing the snare with quicker, more subtle movement. None of that ever feels forced.

It's quite gorgeous at times, particularly during the final act, and the whole thing is just dripping with moody atmosphere.

Thanks Brad. Yup, this is the song that was giving me trouble in the beginning. Nice to know that doesn't show. :) Thanks again for commenting, I really appreciate it.

Of course, yet another source I know absolutely nothing about. So apologies if I can really only comment on your usual excellent timing and pacing. :D
I loved what you did in the beginning/intro, with overlays, never forgetting to let it move, it always feels like being dragged into the vid rather than watching it.
The rest of the vid is also great as usual, the final act is highly entertaining and pretty. I'm sad I can't tell what the hell is going on, but it's always worth watching :)

It means a lot that you're willing to watch even though you don't know the source, so thank you. :) And I'm glad you like the final act. That's probably my favorite action sequence of the entire series.
