Spread Your Wings

I didn’t sleep very well last night; I guess my mind still couldn’t process the fact skywardprodigal is gone.

I first learned of skywardprodigal when she was ebonbird and writing/maintaining Ororo/X-men fiction.  I thought it was glorious and I was so sad when there hadn’t been any more production.  But I’d never spoken to her. I was still new in the fandom business (didn’t even know ( Read more... )

This was beautiful. She was such a nice person, and I was looking forward to getting to know her better. (She also had great taste in Christmas cards)

Again, this was wonderful.

That was a beautiful thing to read - beautiful and sad and thank you for linking me to a part of your friend's life - it was a privilege.

It also gave me the chance to memory your Martha meta/rant, which I completely and wholeheartedly agree with. After reading your meta I went back to look at a fic I wrote years ago called Brilliant because your meta so completely resembled what I'd felt when I wrote my fic (and I say this as a white female, what was done to Martha was completely shitty and I hated it). The thing is, I wasn't lucky enough to know skywardprodigal well, and actually though I think I recognised the name I wasn't sure I'd ever spoken with her ... so it was kind of bittersweet to find a comment from her to that very story. I wish I'd known her better.

For her to comment approvingly on a post was something you cheered, not because she was scathing otherwise, but because she was very discerning and didn't give her credit where she didn't think it was fully due. Just from a fic reader's perspective, I'd enjoyed your writings very much as well. :) But thank you for reading this post.

Thank you for sharing it with all of us. I'm living on my own now for the first time in my life and rapidly realising I need to take more responsibility for opening up and sharing with people I care about while I still have the chance ... it's times like this that really bring it home, I think.

*hugs*

Yes. Most definitely. This year has most assuredly brought that point home. *hugs again*
