You would not believe how many high school history classes I had that actually asserted, with a straight face, that slavery was entirely irrelevant to the Civil War.

And we actually have a judge candidate here in Washington named Joe Wilson, who's now changed all of his ad campaigns to say, "No, the OTHER Joe Wilson."
