A Letter from My Mama

I got this letter back in 2005 when I graduated from college.  It's dated August 24, 1989, and it's written by my mother commemorating my first day of first grade.  And I can be honest and say I hadn't looked at that letter from that graduation day until March, when I moved back to SC and started this "new phase" of my life to be a writer, or at

Happy belated birthday!

She was awesome, and people still come up to my sister and me to tell us so. It's a bit weird because she was just Mommy when we knew her, but I'm glad for the stories.

She was disgustingly brilliant. I have a video of her giving a speech and I'm like "dang, Ma!" lol

Yes, that's my mommy. Pre- sis and I lol, but the only thing that changed after we came along was her eyebrows got thinner and her hair got shorter. :)

And I am published; I put my books out myself. :)
