Sometimes I Can Be . . .

With that drama weighing on my mind, I sat down and watched the vice presidential debate. I can only speak for myself, but the pain in my Afro grew as I witnessed Gov. Palin deliver a performance drenched in folksy phrases and overly simplified pseudo-patriotic ( Read more... )

Actually, Palin's entitlement goes well beyond the already dire levels of "white entitlement," into the realm of the clinical definition of a sociopath. In case you missed it, she actually wants to expand the powers of the vice presidency beyond what Cheney has done. Between that, her refusal to answer questions in anything but the most screened environments, and her outright refusal to answer the moderator's questions at a vice presidential debate, to the point that SHE STATED OPENLY THAT SHE WOULDN'T ANSWER CERTAIN QUESTIONS, is well into the stratosphere of believing that those in power should not be accountable to ANYONE. At the risk of invoking Godwin, it's practically Hitler-esque in its megalomania of outlook.

Yeah, I was done. If she does become VP, McCain shall never become ill or die. I refuse to let him.

You know, I really don't understand the whole "elitism" thing. I mean, when I was growing up I remember people talking about being POTUS like it was this amazing, brilliant job that you could get if you worked really hard and were very smart. Now apparently being "leader of the Free World" is something that can be done by any shlub off the streets. And this is apparently patriotic and something to be proud of.

I think I liked it better when people viewed being President as an elite job.

Also - Sarah Palin certainly doesn't represent me, although apparently my barely middle-class Midwestern background is enough to make me "elite" too. Amazing that the only qualification for "elite" is not being a Republican.

Which I don't think makes any sense considering the representatives of the Republican Party are super-duper wealthy in the first place.

Well, that's why they have to go for the everyman, beer-drinking folksy persona - it's an attempt to misdirect people who might otherwise realize that the people raking in millions of dollars from their investments don't give a crap about anyone's interests but their own. Wolves in sheep's clothing the lot of them.

Yes, voting against their own interest; and they wonder why they're in the fix they're in now.

I one hundred percent agree. . . I literally ended up watching half the debate through the gaps in my fingers because I was twitching and freaking so bad I had my hands over my face most of the time. I swear to God, every "Darn Right", "You Betcha!" and "Heck yeah," was just like nails on a chalk board ( ... )

Okay, Hillary Clinton wouldn't have been able to get away with that performance. The pretty premium sure paid off for her . . .

Very true. . . The bar is SO MUCH lower for Palin. . .Basically, if she speaks in complete sentences they think she did great. . . It's really, really sad. . . We have so many brilliant women politicians, that she should be the first one to run as VP is sad.

I know this may make me an elitist,… but . . . I'd really like my leaders to be above average. I'd really like my leaders to know more than I do about things that aren't just relevant to them. I want leaders who have traveled off the continent. I'd also like my leaders to do more than be "tolerant" of people who don't do any real harm other than look different and marry different and pray different (if at all) and use their bodies different and spend their money different. And I'd really like my leaders to be able to ask a question answered of them with "straight talk" and not twist the answer around until has nothing to do with the asked question at all.

Thank you. Thank you for your sanity, and thank you for being more articulate than I am.
