I'd been working on one novel for 2.5 years and the other one a year, but yeah, they're done! Feels weird and yet like I have so much room in my head for other things . . . which might not be a good thing! I still have at least four/five more novels to complete, and some of them are still in the beginning stages, woe.

I know what you mean about the space in your head when a novel (or long story in my case) is finished... It's weird !

Corregidora sounds like something I'll need to work my way up to reading, but I'd like to.

And if it makes you feel any better--I stopped reading that book, put it aside for a few months, and then picked it back up. Yeah, you're gonna have to be in a place to read it. My aunt had warned me about it. It's similar to Beloved in that "have to be in a place" thing. It's a distinct style of writing, too. If you're used to a lot of prose with your dialogue you might become frustrated.
