If it weren't for the many wonderful LJ posters out there, particularly sahiya, I wouldn't have known that BBC just aired a modern day remake of Sherlock Holmes simply known as Sherlock.
Hey, Sonja, good to see you! I haven't seen you post in eons! :-)
I doubt I'll ever have a chance to see this new version of Holmes, but it sounds interesting. You're right about how that Afghanistan line still applies -- that's deeply wrong and sad. Humans never do learn, do they?
While I haven't been much of a New Who fan, I'm looking forward to seeing Eleventy (as some are calling him), so want to get his first season when it comes out on DVD in November. He sounds like a possible return to the Doctor as I used to like him. Hope so.
I was shocked that I hadn't posted in over a year!
I'm pretty sure that they'll be showing Sherlock on BBC America at some point. They've been showing the 11th Doctor episodes about 4-6 weeks behind the airing in the UK. I hope you like the 11th Doctor (I love him, and his new companions as well). I do think he's a bit more of a return to the traditional Doctors (less emo, or at least more subtly emo). I was a little dubious about Matt Smith the actor just because he's so young, but I think he's doing great as the Doctor.
roachpatrol wrote an awesome little 7th Doctor and Ace crossover with 11th Doctor verse called Prime which has some small spoilers for the first episode with the 11th Doctor that you might like. I'm going to try to put up some 11th Doctor fic recs up sometime this week.
