Just realized a huge stronghold in my life -- wanting to be "perfect" -- in order to avoid criticism or rejection.  Hmm...this is pretty deep, so hold on to your beltloops....

You should read B B Warfield's chronicle of a perfectionist group during the turn of the century. (not the most recent one) History repeats (rinse ; repeat...)Simple ideas such as sanctification can be misunderstood, misused, and abused if the foundational teaching/learning is not there. That's what drives me-
Just as when, in Acts 8, The Spirit told Philip, "Go to that chariot and stay near it." 30: Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. "Do you understand what you are reading?" Philip asked. 31: "How can I," he said, "unless someone explains it to me?" So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
Philip explained the passage and the off went the gospel to Ethiopia which became a major stronghold for Christianity for centuries......now THAT's amazing!
Sometimes you feel like a Philip sometime you feel like an Ethiopian
