Well, there's really a lot of open territory there. I mean, to warm up there's general, good old-fashioned English terms like "wobbley," as in "to throw a..." or "going..."

Also, in the non-pop culture vein, but still an interesting image, is something that would probably be used to refer to said Magi-Noob as in "He's gone 'round his head" as in trying to see the back of his head / mental shell-shock. I've been reading way too much Hellblazer lately, so these are the kind of vaguely English things that occur to me first.

Other than that, there's something more along the lines of "Going Blatsky" which is a shortening of Blavatsky, a somewhat famous founder of the Theosophical society and occultist. Also, it has that nice, onomonpoeic quality of evoking the image of someones head exploding.

More thoughts to follow... probably.

I know Blavatsky (cursorily...I studied W.B. Yeats, he was one of her students, though I don't know how directly he interacted with the woman herself). That's a good suggestion; well, all of them are, but "going blatsky" is great.

Thanks. Glad you like. Kinda reminds me of the Clockwork Orange slang bastardizations of Russian, like horroshow (from the Russian horosho, meaning good). If further inspiration strikes, I will let you know. I always enjoyed playing these kind of games with you :)

You can read some of Blavatsky's work online. Pick a section of, say, The Secret Doctrine at random and just try to read that. If it doesn't make your head explode from the sheer dense insane jumble after a few paragraphs, you've spent too long in school. ;) "Going Blatsky" sounds very apt.

As for other references, I always liked that one part in Serenity where Jayne and Kaylee are talking about Reavers and Jayne makes the comment that Reavers were men who got to the end of their solar system, saw the vastness of space, and "just went bibbledy over it." Makes it sound like they need a dribble cup.

"Tower-shaped": The equivalent of FUBAR, i.e. This situation has gone completely tower-shaped (See "The Tower" of Tarot fame; synonym: "cylindrical")

"Harry's birthday": Equivalent of clusterfuck, Just stay outside, it's Harry's birthday in there right now.

"smoker": A low-class, inexperienced magus, as in "smoke and mirrors"; synonym: "icker" (As in David Icke)

Niiiiiice.

If I hadn't been out mini-golfing for charity for a big chunk of this weekend (most of Saturday), I would have leapt onto this little bandwagon.
But it looks like you gots a handle on the situation.
I will have to strive for a mention in one of your books in another fashion! ^_~
