Today I am feeling like I wished I lived in New York, for no particularly reasonable reason.  It's mostly random.

I just spent some time looking at the few posts I made on hashkafah.com way back in January 2005. I hung out there for about a month before deciding that I was getting too worked up and pissed off, at which point I blocked the URL in

I found the opinion by R' Yaakov Emden before it became more widespread knowledge

My friends and I held by that one way back in 1998. ;) We would hang out in Tel Aviv and go to the ocean, for example.

Heheh. I don't think I knew who R' Yaakov Emden WAS in 1998. I didn't really have much way of doing my own research besides looking at people's bookshelves when I was babysitting (and even then, my Hebrew skills were as shoddy as you would expect of an American Bais Yaakov student.)
