What would you do with a pound (minus a tiny taste) of fresh goat cheese? Let's say, just for shits and giggles, that you didn't want to buy anything else expensive to pair with it.  I've never bought any before, and usually I reject recipes with it because it seems expensive.  Ye Olde Grocerye Outlet had it at a really really cheap price, though, ( Read more... )

Ricotta salata is an... um... interesting cheese.

By "interesting" I mean that my mother likes it, but my father and I don't. (But my father and I like sharp provolone and my mother doesn't, so it all works out.)

Yeah, I got kinda worried when I googled it and saw "Ricotta Salata is actually a potentially delicious cheese if it's in the right place at the right time." Quite damning with faint praise.

Hmm. Interesting, you say? I haven't tasted it yet. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

I'm not sure I can trust someone who doesn't like cheese.

Just kidding. I do love cheese though.

Now...the Ricotta Salata...I tasted it, and that stuff is really weird. It's sheeps milk cheese and it's kind of...spongey. Not bad, but definitely weird.

well.. i dont think i said i was a man to be trusted :-p

besides, i think i'm semi-lactose intolerant. cause i didnt' really grow up on milk and cheeses.

and i think i just realized that in a previous entry, you closed out saying "can i have some cheese with my whine?" and bang, you got some cheese now. so you're like a self fulfilling prophecy :-p

I think goat milk/cheese is supposed to be easier to digest than cow milk/cheese. But also aged cheese has less lactose than fresh cheese, and a lot of goat cheese is fresh, so I guess it balances out.

Self-fulfilling prophecy. Awesome! I wish I could fulfill all my wishes with a trip to Grocery Outlet.
