Didn't Arnold kill the California car tax very first thing when he took office, depriving the state government of hundreds of millions of dollars? It's ok to suck up to everyone and delete the car tax when your state is desperate for the money it would bring in? Seems to me that that set the tone for his stay in office - be everyone's buddy first, then waste a shit ton more money money for ballot initiatives that nobody wants and ultimate don't vote in.
The guy had the same great ideas that almost everyone that runs for government has - "I'll fix all the problems". Too bad he didn't follow that up with anything well thought out.
Well, he has TRIED, but first the ultra-liberal legislature wouldn't budge on just about anything, so he tried to bypass them with bond referendums, which still didn't work.
The idea behind the tax cut was that due to ridiculous government spending, residents were being taxed up the wazoo. It was supposed to be a one-two punch: lower taxes, cut government spending.
To me it looks like they want to have low taxes, but they don't want to stop spending like crazy. I think there may be something wrong with that logic, but I'm no scientician.
Then perhaps he isn't the right man for the job. Dare I say get someone more to the left than his moderate self to placate all the crazies.
If I was a California resident, at this point I'd be voting against every single thing he brought to the table just because he vetoed the gay marriage thing and said that the courts should decide.. because the courts should legislate, RIGHT.
