My English and Biology professors in both high school and college did things like this. Even in a giant classroom at a college, most professors have an idea who is there daily and who isn't.

Sorta had an experience like that in college. went to the library with the class, grabbed the book i wanted to research, and settled in. The prof came and sat down next to the student next to me and had a long conversation with her about her book ( ... )

That's what you get for not having girly-parts. Incompetence from teachers is about the biggest complaint I'll ever have. I'd rather deal with difficult content and tiring assignments than teachers who cannot perform their job effectively.

When I was in jr.high my science and math teacher (same person) starrted to become ill around Christmas time. She was in and out sporadically for a few months during which times we had study halls or watched movies. Around may, she left entirely. For a few days we still just watched movies had had study halls beforethe administration realized she wouldn't be back in that year.

I had a freaking science regents exam (not sure if they have those in this state I only knew about NY. If they don't it's basically a huge and very important test) and due to the lack of solid teaching we'd had we weren't at all prepared.

We had a few different sub teachers for each subject and the whole thing was a mess. I pretty much forgot about my math final and focused on studing the science like crazy (because a regnts exam counts for a lot more than a final).

I did awesome on the science test (like a low or mid 90, I forget), but I got a low 70 on the math. In my defense, our class didn't learn some of what was on the test.

See, me? I would have taken that matter to my mother.

By the time she had finished thrashing the administration, there would have been an overall grade slide.

My mother never took crap like that. And I pretty much endorse the idea that no parent should. You should have at least bumped to an 80 if that was the case.

I mean, honestly.

Heh, we couldn't have done anything about it. I clashed a lot with the administration at that place. I'd get a detention almost every mass (it was a catholic school) simply because they didn't like me and teachers would claim that I was fooling around. I actually got another 70 on an english term paper because it was about why evolution was more credable than intelligent design. The teacher claimed it was because I hadn't followed instructions even though I had submitted a rough draft to her and got her approval of it. Belive me, I was pissed.

Yeah, my fifth grade teacher was like that. She hated me and let my life go to hell, and it wasn't until my mom figured it out that I knew. ((Yes, she really did. My mom brought her to tears when she ranted at her for it))

Grades are half being smart, and half conforming to what the teacher wants to see.
