Returner for me had the quintessential movie aya, cold, cool, aloof, red hair, long black coat and it was the onimusha himself- takeshi kaneshiro (although i get his name confused with takeshi kitano so sometimes i'll say oh we're casting aya, we need this ancient old man whose made like a million movies when i mean the other fella)

As for the woman from Lady Snowblood... Cool, controlled, cold, beautiful and deadly. Somewhat inhuman but not quite. Revenge as the life goal. Oh, and does she kill with a katana...?
