My newest guilty pleasure on TV is Starz's Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Ironically, I'd first dismissed the trailer as a mashed up Rome/300/Gladiator copy; and the pilot somewhat affirmed this with its stylised sex and violence, and one too many nude and bloody fight scenes. I watched a bit of the first episode and wsa disappointed, i thought it would be different, not with that much blood and sex, it looked like 300 made for TV, will read your thoughts on the show and i may give it another chance

Yeah, I felt the same way. The TV eps provide far more depth - and put the blood and sex in perspective. If you're unsure about diving in again, check out the Starz channel on YouTube. The character profiles give some insight on what's instore - beyond all the gore!

It reminds me a LOT of 300, but... I do like the lead actor, have always liked John Hannah since the Mummy movies, and well, the eye candy (as in guys)... nice way to end the week :) However, I do think they're working at character growth too.

Yeah, the cast is quite stellar, plus both genders are nice to look at :) Andy Whitfield is surprisingly good for a newbie! I hope he goes far after this run is over.
